The Book of Will
Join us for auditions for The Book of Will by Lauren Gunderson. America's most produced playwright has gifted us with a script that explains through a combination of historical and fictional characters why today we can leaf through the Collected Works of William Shakespeare-something we cannot do for his contemporaries or successors. Two actors will take on the roles of Will's friends, Heminges and Condell. The remaining 8 taken 24 different people to tell the convoluted story of bringing the good idea of saving Will's work to fruition.

What to prepare - Please bring along 14 or so lines of Shakespeare to share. We will do cold readings from the script. Be willing to take on multiple roles!
7 men and 3 women will play a variety of roles. Two of the men will play Shakespeare's friends, Heminges and Condell, who conducted the quest to produce, print and distribute the First Folio of The Collected Works of William Shakespeare.
The remaining 8 players will take on multiple roles - there are 26 roles to tell this story of friendship and family, augmented by literary detective work. This is the story that explains why we know more of Shakespeare's work than that of his contemporaries and his even more modern successors-Heminges and Condell were not their friends preparing to protect their legacy as they did for their friend, Will.
All roles are open, and we welcome actors of all backgrounds. Join us in bringing this incredible story to life! For more information, please contact Susan Demers.
